HOMEWORK
Basic GuidelinesHomework has a two-fold purpose. It serves to reinforce skills and concepts learned in the classroom and to develop good study habits. Homework expectations are approximate and vary according to grade level.
Grades 4th-6th: 60-90 minutes Homework that is not turned in, is incomplete, or improperly done is the major contributing factor for student receiving poor grades. Students who are absent due to illness will be allowed to make up assignments in a timely fashion. Work turned in late, for reasons other than illness will be accepted, but will receive a lower grade. |
Requesting Homework When Children are AbsentParents may request homework for children who are absent by notifying the office by 9:00 a.m. the request will be given to the teacher(s). the assignments may be picked up at the office after school.
Extended AbsencesThe Elementary Independent Study Program is available to students who will be out of school for 5 days or more for travel. Please notify the school office a week or more in advance of the student's absence so that a work packet can be prepared for the student.
